Dawn breaking, sing-song, soft feather light,
bright bird sweet-tweetling in breeze bearing flight,
wings spread in wonder sail up, down, around,
silver-cloud soaring so far from the ground.
What do you think of high up in that place
where the blue of the sky meets dark velvet space?
Is it Einstein’s theory or the deeds of good Kings,
revolution, pollution, or romantic things?
What do you feel as you swoop whirly twirly
in the light of the sun, or beneath the moon curly?
Is it exhilaration or delightful elation
joyful exuberance or the glow of creation?
What do you do when you loop the loop light
as you skim rainbows arched, or touch the starred night?
Do you ponder on gravity or spinning dark holes
Or wonder if all birds have spirits and souls?
When land and sea beckon, bringing you home
as the trees softly whisper: ‘Too far do you roam’,
do you sing-song sweet tweet with a sigh of regret
for you have not touched all of the universe yet?
